Quick & Easy Sesame Chicken
If there’s someone that does wonders for my esteem, it’s my nanny. She thinks I’m a master in the kitchen. It’s true but the real skill I have mastered is stumbling onto food winners by mistake. This chicken is one of those things. I had a little time on my hands and we needed a quick meal thus this winner was born.
You will need:
1 full chicken
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
2 tablespoons of brown cooking sugar (Ordinary sugar is okay as well)
1 tablespoon of mustard
1/2 teaspoon of salt
4 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon thyme
2 tablespoons cooking oil
- Mix the mustard, soy sauce, sesame seeds, salt, thyme, cooking oil and sugar into a small bowl.
- Have your chicken in pieces in a separate bowl, in a plastic bag (so that the marinade doesn’t go to the bottom of the bowl) and pour the marinade over it. Keep in the fridge for a couple of hours for it to soak up.
- In your preheated oven at 150, throw in your chicken and let it cook for 45 minutes or until skin is crisp
- Serve with ugali and kachumbari – because that’s what I did and it was delicious!
