Quick & Easy Sesame Chicken

Yaaas! I wanna share this:

If there’s someone that does wonders for my esteem, it’s my nanny. She thinks I’m a master in the kitchen. It’s true but the real skill I have mastered is stumbling onto food winners by mistake. This chicken is one of those things. I had a little time on my hands and we needed a quick meal thus this winner was born.

You will need:

1 full chicken

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

2 tablespoons of brown cooking sugar (Ordinary sugar is okay as well)

1 tablespoon of mustard

1/2 teaspoon of salt

4 tablespoons of dark soy sauce

1 tablespoon thyme

2 tablespoons cooking oil

How to

  1. Mix the mustard, soy sauce, sesame seeds, salt, thyme, cooking oil and sugar into a small bowl.
  2. Have your chicken in pieces in a separate bowl, in a plastic bag (so that the marinade doesn’t go to the bottom of the bowl) and pour the marinade over it. Keep in the fridge for a couple of hours for it to soak up.
  3. In your preheated oven at 150, throw in your chicken and let it cook for 45 minutes or until skin is crisp
  4. Serve with ugali and kachumbari – because that’s what I did and it was delicious!
