DIY: Earring Holder
When I was doing my undergrad, I went through a phase where I never wore a matching pair of earrings. I think I saw it in a movie or a teen magazine once and decided that it was going to be my thing. Looking back on those photos, I cringe because it was so dorky but I still appreciate the ‘me-ness’ of it all. These days I wear matching sets and the one thing that has remained constant is my love for earrings. I can’t get enough of them. Earrings are the one thing I never leave the house without (oh wait, and perfume) and I always spend on them even when I shouldn’t (same thing with books).
I got a beautiful woven basket from my mum’s house a couple of months ago and decided it would be my jewellery box. Disaster. Every morning was spent with me tipping over all the contents onto my bed and looking for something to put on. Such a waste of time. Worse was when I was late to something and I would leave them on the bed for hubbs to come and clean up. A couple of earrings also murdered each other in that basket bending and breaking so overall – bad idea. So I decided enough is enough and came up with this really easy solution.
You will need
A clothes hanger
A relatively light scarf (that earrings can easily go through)
A sticky hook
Hang the scarf on the hanger and you’re done! It’s really easy. You can use the sticky hook to put it up somewhere if you don’t have a place to hang it. Necklaces can hang on the loopy sides, earrings go through the scarf and bracelets can go along the length of the hanger. You can pretty much modify this DIY hanger any way you please.
My favourite thing about this hack is it really brightens up the room. Try using a brightly coloured scarf and keep a couple in stock if you ever want to change it up or for when you inevitably have to wash out the scarf.
